Infants

(6 weeks – 12 months)

We provide a loving, nurturing environment where we strive to meet the physical and emotional needs of each individual child in our care. They are given the opportunity and are encouraged to develop their gross motor skills by being able to freely explore their surroundings in a safe environment as they begin to sit, crawl, and walk on their own. Our infant room teachers see it as a privilege to be given the opportunity to cuddle, sing, and play with the babies as well as watching them grow and experience each stage of their development. “All About My Day” sheets are kept on each child as to his/her routine schedule and are sent home daily.

Toddler 1

(12 months – 24 months)

We strive to meet each child’s individual needs along with providing the opportunity to develop their fine motor skills. By introducing structured activities such as craft time, the children have the opportunity to use crayons, markers, glue and paint, under the strict supervision and assistance of our amazing toddler teachers. We also begin teaching basic sign language to help with their communication skills before they have the ability to form their words.

Depending on each child’s individual development, the next step is to move to the Transitional 2’s class. By the time they reach a minimum of 18 months of age, we feel many of the children out-grow the toddler room. At that time we will move them over to the Transitional 2’s class. On average, most children move over by about 19 months of age.

Toddler 2

(2 years old)

Our goal for the Transitional 2s class is to prepare these guys to transition into a more structured preschool program. We add just a little bit more structure than in our toddler class. They have circle time, where they have a daily lesson that introduces colors, shapes, letters and numbers. We also introduce a more center oriented classroom, where each designated play area gives a different opportunity to explore their environment. They also learn to sit in a chair at a table that’s just their size while eating and doing other table activities. Potty training may be introduced depending on the child’s development and parent involvement.

The children will remain in the Transitional 2’s class until the following preschool year. Those who are already two or will turn two by September 1st, will start PreK 2 when preschool starts in mid-August.

2 yr old – Preschool class

(Must be 2 by September 1st)

Our 2 year old Preschool class is a structured preschool environment. In this class we implement the ABeka curriculum which consists of 3 different books focusing on numbers and counting, along with shapes and colors. Seatwork includes workbook activities and crafts. In addition the children will participate in a variety of activities including fine motor skills, as well as language, music and thinking skills.

In partnering with the parents, we strongly encourage potty training with all of our 2 year olds. With the wonderful teachers in our 2yr old class, along with positive encouragement at home, nearly all of our 2 year olds are potty trained before they start the following preschool year. In the event that a child is not completely potty trained when the new school year starts, they will remain in the 2 yr old class until potty training is complete.

3 yr old – Preschool class

(Must be 3 by September 1st)

We provide 2 options for our 3-yr old Preschool class. We have a Preschool only program from 8:30 to 11:30 Monday through Friday, or full-time childcare, where our preschool program is included in their day. In our 3 yr old Preschool class we strive to create a structured preschool environment. These classes utilize the ABeka curriculum for letter and number recognition, phonics, counting, colors, shapes, and arts and crafts with the addition of music.

Along with our preschool program, with this age group, we also provide Bible time where our children have prayer, a Bible lesson, a weekly memory verse, and praise and worship time. We want each child to experience Jesus in a way that will change their lives forever by building a solid foundation on God’s word.

The afternoons are less structured, where the children can have center-oriented activities where they exercise free-play as well as outside time on the playground.

4 yr old – Preschool Class

(Must be 4 by September 1st)

We provide 2 options for our 4-yr old Preschool class. We have a Preschool only program from 8:30 to 11:30 Monday through Friday, or full-time childcare, where our preschool program is included in their day. In our 3 yr old Preschool class we strive to create a structured preschool environment. These classes utilize the ABeka curriculum for letter and number recognition, phonics, counting, colors, shapes, and arts and crafts with the addition of music.

School-Agers

Precious Stones provides summer and holiday care for schoolagers. We also provide before and after school care for children who attend Living Stones Christian School. Unfortunately, at this time we do not provide transportation to and from the public school system.

All schoolagers with homework will be given approximately 30min. to 45min. to complete as much as possible. This gives some of them an opportunity to work on homework with fellow students, whether they are helping or receiving help. This also helps to insure more opportunity for quality family time in the evenings.

Summer Program

Our summer program is a fun-filled experience for all of our schoolagers from 5 to12 years of age. We have found that doing themed weeks gives us the organization and the opportunity to come up with lots of crazy and fun things to do while still being able to maintain structure. Each week we provide a craft, food craft, and field trip pertaining to that week’s theme, along with a swim/splash day each week.

Sign- up sheets will be posted 1 week prior to each field trip with the location, price, departure and return times for each trip. All schoolage teachers are required to attend the field trips, so if you decide that your child will not be attending one of the field trips, you must provide alternate care for your child on that day.
